Famous events:

A policeman earned £1.41 a week, which was 1 pound, 8 shillings and 11 pence in Victorian money.

How much people did people earn?

London dock workers and match girls go on strike, demanding 6p an hour.  They are successful and the new wage takes them to around £1 a week in wages.

Invention:

Queen Victoria came from a German background and the first language she learned to speak was German.

Victorian fact:

The forth bridge is completed near Edinburgh in Scotland.  It becomes the largest cantilever bridge in the world, and was only made possible because of advances in steel manufacture.
