Edward Lear, the writer of the poem "The owl and the pussycat" died in January of this year.

Invention:

Queen Victoria’s father, Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent, died when she was just 8 months old.

 

 

Victorian fact:

The first Kodak cameras are invented.  They come complete with film inside for 100 photographs and have to be sent back to the factory to be developed and re-loaded.
