How much people did people earn?

The Oxford English dictionary is published for the first time.  It is still the most widely used dictionary in the world today and includes many thousands of English words and their meanings.

Invention:

In 1837 crossing the Atlantic took up to eight weeks. By 1901 it took about a week because of the development of steam ships.

 

 

Victorian fact:

The first public electric railway opens in Brighton, Great Britain, named the ‘Volk’s Electric Railway’ after the inventor  Magnus Volk.

Queen Victoria was 64 years old on the 24th May and had been Queen for 46 years.
