How much people did people earn?

Education finally becomes compulsory for children between the ages of 5 and 10, ten years after the idea was first introduced with the 1870 education act.

Invention:

For most of the Victorian period there was no electricity. This meant that most of the time you had to use candles and gas lamps to see what you were doing.

 

 

Victorian fact:

Thomas Edison invents the ‘magnetic iron ore separator’ to extract grains of iron from sand. It is one of his only failures and takes almost all of the money he makes from the light bulb invention.
