A policeman earned £1.39 a week, which was 1 pound, 7 shillings and 10 pence in Victorian money.

How much people did people earn?

The Tay Bridge collapses in gale force winds during a Force 11 gale on the River Tay.   75 train passengers plunged to their deaths in the biggest structural engineering disaster in Britain.

Invention:

In 1837 most people lived in villages and worked on the land; but by 1901, many lived in towns and worked in shops and factories.

 

 

Victorian fact:

The Light bulb is invented by Thomas Edison and Joseph Swann.  Edison’s design was not the first light bulb but it was the  most reliable and lasted much longer than previous designs.

Queen Victoria was 60 years old on the 24th May and had been Queen for 42 years.
