A farm worker earned 80p a week, which was 16 shillings in Victorian money.

How much people did people earn?

The second Afghan war takes place in Afghanistan between British and Russian troops, over 125 years before the recent Afghan conflict.

Invention:

The Victorians were very proud of their inventions.  The Great exhibition of 1851 had over 100,000 inventions and works of art and was visited by over 6 million people.

 

 

Victorian fact:

The first electric street lighting was used in London. It was created from carbon arc lamps and gave very high intensity harsh light, but required a lot of maintenance.
