How much people did people earn?

The 1870 education bill promises free education for every child between 5 and 10, but still not every adult makes sure that their children go to school, and many children still work for a living.

Invention:

In 1870, the average rent for a top-of-the-market house would cost just £10 per year.

 

 

Victorian fact:

The police ‘mug shot’ was invented in this year, meaning that criminals were now photographed for the first time when they were arrested.
