A policeman earned £1.05 a week, which was 1 pounds, 1 shilling in Victorian money.

How much people did people earn?

In 1864 boys under the age of 10 were banned from being chimney sweeps.  They were used because they were small and thin and didn't cost a lot of money.

Invention:

The Victorians had a great passion for building bigger and greater things. For example, the Clifton suspension bridge, designed by the great engineer, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, was completed in this year.

 

 

Victorian fact:

Jelly babies are invented by a German sweet manufacturer called Herr Steinbeck in Lancashire.
