How much people did people earn?

A new medal for extreme bravery is made from captured Russian canons from the Crimean war.  It is named "The Victoria Cross" and since 1856, over 1,300 have been awarded.

Invention:

When Queen Victoria was buried, she was wearing a white dress, her wedding veil and she also had one of Prince Albert's dressing gowns buried with her.

Victorian fact:

An English scientist and chemist called William Henry Perkin creates the first synthetic dye, called 'aniline purple', which is now known by the name of 'mauve'.
