A doctor earned £3.81 a week, which was 3 pounds, 16 shillings, 2 pence in Victorian money

How much people did people earn?

Workhouses were opened for the first time, as a way to give poor people a way to survive.  In return for hard work, the workers were given a bed and enough food to survive.

Invention:

It wasn’t until the 1890s that a servant was given time off work, and even then it was only one week a year.
