How much people did people earn?

The railways of Great Britain reach 8000km in length, covering most of the country.

Invention:

In the 1830s and 1840s adults were only expected to live until their late 30s, but this improved by the end of the Victorian period.

Victorian fact:

Tarmac was used on a road in Nottingham for the first time.  This meant that people had a smoother journey instead of riding on mud and cobbled roads.

Queen Victoria's age and reign:

Queen Victoria was 26 years old on the 24th May and had been Queen for 8 years.  The Royal couple purchase Osborne House on the Isle of Wight, which was set to become one of their favourite places to live.
