How much people did people earn?

Charles Dickens published his book "A Christmas Carol", which sold out in six days and helped to make Christmas a more popular occasion and time for celebration in England. 


Girls were as young as 8 years old when they started work as a servant, working for a family in a household.

Victorian fact:

Sir Henry Cole invents and send the first christmas card.  He was also involved in introducing the penny black stamp, which meant that he made money from people sending Christmas cards.
